Black History Month may be over, but comics by and about POC still continue to roll out, and this is a banger! This is a true story about the life of Nathaniel Calloway, a black doctor who was forced to turn to working with the mob to make ends meet in the ’30’s. Great story, great art, and a great purchase if you’re into Black American history!
After a short break from posting, I’m returning with a profile of one of my favorite extant writers, Bryan Edward Hill. He has written both for film/TV and comics, as well as being a photographer, director, and even a producer of a few tracks. Join me as we dive into a fascinating modern creator of color!
We go from the writer of the new Black Panther to one of the artists! Brian Stelfreeze has been in the industry for quite a while, making his mark in the big Two, as well as indie publishers.
I had a busy week last week, but I’m back at it with a profile of one of our great modern writers, Ta-Nehisi Coates! If you haven’t read his work in The Atlantic, or The Washington Post, you should check it out. He’s also written some great comics!
I’m excited for this one, Oteil is one of the greatest extant musicians, and has played with basically everybody important in the jam scene. I’m happy to continue celebrating musicians of color today, although I think I’ll switch back to POC comics creators in the next post, so keep your eyes peeled for that one.
